Default What's the entertainment like?

My husband, friends and I will be cruising the NCL Pearl in October and we wanted to know what the entertainment is like on board? We're in our mid-to-late 20's so we're pretty much still the party animals! I'm afraid that the cruisers on board will be a little too snobby and stuffy. Any info. is definitely appreciated!

No, the last thing you will find on NCL are snooty or stuffy cruisers. Sure, you will always find a few, same as you are going to find a certain number that are cranky and cronic complainers, but of all the lines NCL has the largest mixture of passengers. This is both a positive and a negative. You won't find the super active, late night partiers on NCl that you may find on Carnival, but there will be plenty of active. There will be late night comedy, a jumping casino, music, etc. There are always a couple of bars that seem to attract the under 40 group. I don't think you will be sorry and freestyle dining should work great for you. Traditional dining, which is very popular for some isn't much fun if you get stuck at a table with others you have nothing in common with. On the Pearl you will have choices as to when and where you want to eat. Yes, some of the dining rooms do have sur charges, but on the Pearl you will have lots of choices that have no extra expense if this is what you want. You can eat an early dinner, hit the casino, party a little after that and if you are hungry go to the Blue Lagoon (open 24 hours) for a sandwhich or late night snack. It is more a Vegas atmosphere than a true cruise one. Go, enjoy and let us know when you return what you think. BTW, is this your first cruise? NMNita

Default Cruise

No, but it is my first one in a long time. My last cruise was in 1999 with Carnival. Thanks for your input.

Default Bargain Basement Prices: Bargain Basement Experience

Snooty and snobby you will NOT find on NCL. You will find that people cruise with NCL for the bargain basement prices. Unfortunately, bargain basement experiences come with the bargain basement prices on NCL. NCL is the worst cruise line in the industry.

Please don't let one person's view influence you too much. This goes for the all negatives or all positives. Toyamsu, because you have chosen NCLs newest ship, in fact it is probably the newest ship in the water, I don't think you will be disappointed. Sometimes people do choose a vacation based on price and of course the cheaper the vacation the less quality you will get. We have cruised 20 plus times on all mass marketed lines except Princess. We choose our cruises for 1-itinerary 2-price 3-overall view of others including my clients. Because we are partial to freestyle we look at NCL first, but on 3 occassions we have chosen Celebrity because the itineraries were similar and the prices lower for the same catagory. Our last cruise was HAL; we had a wonderful time even though there wasn't as many activities as we like. Why we choose the line had to do with itinerary and dates. Actually dates usually play a roll in our choice of lines. It sounds to me like NCL is a very good match for you. No, those who cruise NCL are not all low life, poor, uneducated, unsophisticated or even lacking in class. There are some who feel by showing some snobbery they somehow are showing class; I believe this is just the opposite. NMnita

Hi TOYAMSU,

I agree with Nita! NCL sounds great for you! You won't find many "stuffy, snobby" people on NCL.

Since NCL offers "Freestyle" cruising, what you'll find are lots of laid back, easygoing cruisers. If you want to be waited on hand and foot, get dressed up for dinner (and stay that way all night), eat at the same time every night, etc., NCL might not be for you . IMO, if you just want to cruise and have fun NCL will be a perfect fit!

There are plenty of things to do and the entertainment is generally very good.

Have a wonderful cruise!

Toyamsu, weigh your options carefully. There are some people on this site who are travel agents and who push NCL cruises. I think Carnival or Royal Caribbean are two lines that you might want to consider. Some people love NCL because of the free-style dining. You have lots of options. Check Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and NCL. Come back if you have questions.
