Yes, you can. I did it after Katrina. Moved my trip back a full year , until NCL was ailing out of N.O. again, and even then changed it again and pushed it back an additional month. Some posteres have reported being told it could be no later than the expiration date of your certificates. In my case it was further but without problem. Maybe that was because of the situation in New Orleans, but I don't know.

Just remember that by cancelling after final payment there is a penalty, even if you are just changing the booking to another date or cruise.

We had paid for our entire trip with certificates and had booked through an agency who offered us free insurance so we weren't penalized at all.

Keep us posted. In the changing world of points programs it's always helpful to keep up with the curve balls.

Our travel agent called back and said ncl said they could "probably" do a transfer to a different ship without loosing any rewards applied. But there may be a slight penalty involved. Our TA said she thinks she can get them to wave the penalty if she talked with the supervisor. So we are waiting on the supervisor to call her back within the next 48hrs . Why 48hrs? I will let you know what happens. Thank god for good travel agents!

UPDATE
Well after several days and alot of back and forth No's with the NCL managers and then the NCL director who originally also said No, My TA finally asked, "Just tell me why the funds can't be transferred without a penalty fee" Being we were transferring funds to a slightly more expensive cruise and 2 xtra days meaning more xtra cash out of our pockets into NCL's.....THEY CAVED AND SAID OK!!!!!

WOOOHOO!

So the update is IT CAN BE DONE....with a very persuasive Trave Agent involved!!!! We will be going on the pearl instead of the sun.

Here is my next question. I feel my TA went above and beyond. I'd like to tip her. Is this appropriate?? Have anyone of you ever tipped your TA??? Should I get her like a gift card to a restraunt or cash???
