Star leaves out of Seattle........Sun leaves out of Vancouver......so depends on where you want to leave from........Star does Prince Rupert & Sun doesn't..........we're doing Star in May.....

I just got back from the sun doing the carribean. I thought to myself as I sailed on the sun, man I would really be bored if I chose this ship to do alaska! There are no indoor pools. Activities are limited, unless you like to gamble. I don't know what the star has to offer and what you are looking for as far as activities? But if you choose the sun, I would bring a good book and be prepared for catching up on many zzzzzz's!

You mean there were no trivia games, no wine tasting or martini clinics, no TV game show activities, no night time entertainment, no card games or board games? Boring is what you make of it. It you think the Sun is boring you should sail Celebrity or HAL? As for no covered pool, that is a problem, but remember, sailing Alaska is very port intensive; you are on the ship very little during the day hours and the Sun offers a variety of late afternoon activities, 10 restaurante, several bars and nightly shows. Because of so many ports and long excursions, in some cases, most people are not looking for the party life. BTW, we have done the Sun twice; as for not staying busy, even our 12 year old granddaughter didn't get bored. She says it was her favorite cruise. Again, what you are looking for varies from person to person. NMNita

curlym.........where in Washington are you? In case you don't know the Star leaves out of pier 66.......there is a parking garage right across the street with a sky bridge to the check in area.......just a short walk after the elevator........always had a easy check in at 66.......

Sharon, we are on the southeast side, near Walla Walla.
Thanks for the tips on parking, my friend from Australia and I will be going on this cruise, it is something she has wanted to do all her life.
So it should be great, I have done the cruise to Alaska back in 98 on RCL but never used Norweigan before.[/i]

Does anyone know if you get a insulated coke cup when you buy the coke card on the Star?? It's nice to have the lid so you don't spill.........
