ncl renting a car as a shore excursion

can anyone tell me if you have signed up with ncl aloha for a shore excursion for car rental?...i can't seem to find anyone that has ever used this excursion for this reason...ive done some research and this seems to be cheeper for a mini van this way...than booking on my own....looking for someone that has info thanks :D

I have also checked on the rental car rates and it does seem that the NCL rates are lower or at least the same as some of the rental car agencies. I would think that they take you by shuttle to pick up the cars. The islands look like we could do all of our own driving as opposed to the NCL shore excursions. Anyone else have any ideas on how they operate this??

thanks for the respond i was beginig to think noone would ever dream of using this...i have just recently talked with ncl and everything sound like a go to me...the nice thing is if we decided we can cancell on ship the day before.we think this is a great idea to drive on our own considering there is seven of us (mini van $100. a day) we can stop and go at our own pace..hawaii here we come..p.s if you want maps ahead of time google franks maps...

Thanks for your response even though we still have not heard from anyone who has actually done this! Friends that have stayed on land in HI say that driving is no problem. I am still investigating other tour companies to check their rates with a driver...our problem is 10 people. NCL says they shuttle you to the rental place and then you have that day as long as you are in port to return the vehicle. There is no keeping the vehicle overnight. Good luck and let me know if you learn any more.
