Norwegian Spirit cruise in April - need advice!

We planned a cruise on Norwegian Spirit in April to Carribbean out of NY. My husband and I have NEVER had a vacation alone since we got married a year and a half ago. (second marriage). I am a little concerned about what I read on this line regarding food and bad odor of sewage. should I bail now?

I was on in March of 2006 and these were two things I personally never has or saw or smelt.

we went on the spirit in june of 2006 and there wasn't a horrible smell anywhere. You will get hundreds of different opinions on cruising. Just go with a open mind, don't fret over little problems and have a great time. We are sailing on the spirit this june and we can't wait. The first time we went on Celebrity and we heard some negative things and started to second guess like you. But i felt, what the heck it's still better then working. We had a great time. As far as the food on the spirit, it was fine. The windows dining room was gorgeous. quincy.

i was on the ship this past August, and those rumors are downright false! go & enjoy your cruise...you are to have the greatest time!

I too have read about the food and smell on these boards as well as other not so flattering things about NCL. I will also be on the spirit April 7th (our first) and after reading a lot of positive and negative stuff about them I will go with an open mind and form my own opinions and suggest you do the same. What is bad for one person may not be for another.

I have cruised the Spirit, actually it was within a week or two of when Delfthuis did last year and honestly never noticed too many bad odors, of course you should be aware that can happen occasionally on cruise ships (any cruise ship), which is why we always pack an air freshener to keep in the bathroom. We never had a bad meal on the Spirit, but most of the complaints I read, related to the food on the buffet, which was not where we ate 99% of the time. If we went to the buffet it was just to grab something quick for the kids or to have a bite of desert and coffee.

Like Quincy I found the view in Windows to be breathtaking and we enjoyed eating breakfast and lunch there nearly everyday.

Cruise on the Spirit it is a neat ship with the Asian flare as to those rumors no smells the food is good to very good .Buffet was ok not great. Breakfast was fantastic in the main dining rooms. the speciality restaraunts are always great. We cruised September 30th of 2006.
