traveling with teen 16 years old

This is my first time posting here. Love this site! Anyway my question or concern is that we will be cruising this summer in July on the Majesty out of Boston. We will be bringing with us our two children ages 18 and 16. The 18yr old (girl) I am not worried about. She will make friends very easily.... very outgoing etc. Now my son who is not extremly shy but is around new people...I worry about. I want him to have fun and not have to tag along all the time on ship with me and my husband. Any ideas? Should I force him to go to the teen club the first night? Maybe he will meet kid's there?? Any one else run into this problem?

I certainly would encourage him to attend: force is a strong word, but if that is what it takes. I will say some of the kids will meet each other just by going to the arcade, but the first nigh tis the secret. My experience, from talking to teens and parents is:16 year olds may find the teen program a little less than thrilling, but they will make friends to hang out with. I hope others will post on here.
