Pride of America has been in the Hawaiian waters longer and apparently ironed out some of the flaws, but P of Aloha is a newer ship; I am not sure anyone can answer your question. Knowing you from the boards, you are 1/2 glass full not empty, I would suggest you do Pride of America. Just my gut feeling.

Thanks, Nita - I can always count on you for solid input.

Okay, now - do you have any suggestions on balconies. Any with special views, larger than norm balcony, etc.

Thanks.

gosh - I'm watching the news and this VA. shooting thing is heart wrencching.

I really don't: of course we all know the higher deck the more you are going to cough up, but the cabins will be the same.

As for the VA Tech thing, I had my stupid cataract done this morning and we heard about it on the way home. We haven't turned on the TV cause I have some cruise work I have to get out. I am sure in the next hour or so we will be glued to the set for the remainder of the day. I am sure they have mentioned this is almost the anniversary of Calumbine. Most of you are way too young to remember the sniper shootings at the University of Texas many years ago. It seems this a similar and senseless situation.

Default The Sun!

If you can, choose the Sun and their longer itinerary which also take you to Fanning Island.

We took that cruise a few years ago when it was with the Wind and it was really great. If you prefer not to have any seadays, of course the one week itinerarys around the Hawaiian Islands is a better choice.

Whatever you choose, the Hawaiian Islands are great, ENJOY!!!

Sorry ,nmnita, but you are mistaken here. The Pride Of Aloha is a reflagged vessel and renamed that is much older than the Pride of America. We sailed the Pride of America during her inagaugaral season in October of 2005. My brother sailed Pride of Aloha in early 2005. The Pride of America has much better service and is very pretty. I would also recomend Pride of America as it has more amenities and is a nicer ship.

not a problem, we just have such a big place in our hearts for the Pride of America. We go back on her in 2010!

erikhag, We've done the Sun 3 times out of N.O. and she is one of our favorite ships, but she is no longer doing Hawaii.

To everyone else - we decided on the America and after close deck scrutiny found that the BE cabins on deck 8 forward have balconies the size of the BC's above them. Looks to be a very nice size balcony for less money.
Got 3 cabins for our gang side by side. Poor room steward!

Thanks for ya'lls input.

Like most of the ships designed for freestyle there were several restaurant choices. I don't think we had a bad meal.

The casino wasn't large and it was one time I didn't spend much time there as the machines were tight and very little else was going on, but now that she is flagged American and in Hawaii she doesn't even have one, so that is moot point.

The crew was like on all NCL ships, friendle, helpful and relaxed.

The entertainment, again about the same as all NCL ships.

I hope this helps you a little. NMnita

Our experience on the AKA Sky was like yours: the cabins were not quite as large as the Sun, but lots of storage and the light colors made them appear larger. We really enjoyed her, though I like the Sun and Jewel a little better. Nita

I thought that the Sun should cruise around Hawaii and to Fanning Island at least until April 2008, that´s what NCLs broschyr show. Too bad that they took her away so soon!
