Do go to the Venetian for breakfast where everything is made to order and not many people seem to know it is open. Also, make a reservation and have dinner at Impressions. It is a smaller, more intimate dining room and does not have a surcharge.

we booked a mini suite, I will upgrade if offered a good deal, so we will let the concierge do the booking for us. it is so nice to have them to do it. we were just on the spirit in september and the main dining room (garden room?) for breakfast was fantastic. I just had gastric bypass surgery in february so i am hoping by august i am past the upset stomach issues by then and can relax onboard but either way at least i can go sightseeing who cares about food....lol

We went to Nassau, and went on an island tour and then to Atlantis. We booked this ourself when we got off the ship. it was a wonderful day. Despite people being negative about this place, I always liked it. We enjoyed DAWN very much. The service was great, the atmosphere was just wonderful, it was a New Years Eve cruise. We really enjoyed this sailing a great deal.

we simply never take the excursions. Now I would in certain area's of the world, but not the carribean. First of all I know the islands very very well, and in many of them I have friends and family living there, on our next cruise, we will know people with homes in Barbados, antigua, and tortolla. In Nassau, we went with people we met in a van taxi, it was a women, she was wonderful, we spent about four and a half hours with her, at a cost of 25 per person, there were eight of us. we went all over the island, and she was quite entertaining. Then we went to Atlantis and this was a really nice time. Then we were dropped off in town and we did ALOT of walking, the old church, up and down, here and there, we tend to do that alot. It was a nice day and the weather was perfect.

cool, we will not do as much walking due to health issues but we will use the taxis to go to Atlantis.

We just came back this past Saturday on the Dawn from Nassau and Bermuda. We had a great time, but we only did one excursion in Bermuda (boat tour of famous homes). It was nice, but if we went back to Bermuda I think we would rent a scooter and drive around the island next time.

As for on the Dawn - go to Cagney's for dinner it was great! Also if you like to have a drink now and then the martini and marguerita "classes"are well worth it! For a nice after dinner spot (if you don't smoke) we liked the Star Bar (Martinin Bar) next to Cagney's. It was quiet and overlooked the pool deck.

You will have a great time. We had such a great time we booked another trip in Jan. on the Gem this time.

Enjoy and have a ton of fun!

Mark

You must go to Salsa at least once, both for the food and for their margueritas.

If you like Margueritas, make sure you go the Marguerita class. It's $15 for an hour of margueritas. I did the martini class where we had 6 different types. Very educational

Default DAWN-BERMUDA/BAHAMAS

I JUST CAME BACK. I WAS ON THE 5/12-5/19. FIRST TIME ON DAWN.
IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ON THIS SHIP - MAY I GIVE SUGGESTIONS?
FIRST OFF- CAGNEYS STEAK HOUSE - $20.00 PER PERSON - GO LATER AT NIGHT- IT'S A TWO FOR ONE DEAL.....
THE TEX/MEX PLACE - FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! NO CHARGE. YUM!
I DIDN'T EAT AT THE OTHER SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS. I DIDN'T LIKE WHAT I SAW ON THE MENU BUT THE REST. ARE BEAUTIFUL.
BRING NICE DINNER WEAR- PANTS FOR THE GUYS - DRESSES FOR THE LADIES. THEY WON'T LET YOU IN WEARING SHORTS...THEY ARE STRICT ON THAT!!!!! THESE PEOPLE DO GET DRESSED UP!!!!!!

THE CASINO- IF YOUR INTO SLOTS- PLAY THE MONEY STORM - IT'S A PENNY MACHINE - AND PLAY MAXIMUM AMOUNT ( I THINK IT'S A DOLLAR). TWO MACHINES OVER IS THE LOBSTER ONE (NOT SURE WHAT IT'S CALLED) THAT PAID WELL TOO. UNCLE SAM I PLAYED -NOT TOO BAD EITHER.
I PLAYED A LOT OF THE SLOTS - NOT MUCH PAYOUT.

BAHAMAS- MY HONEY & I WALKED RIGHT INTO ATLANTIS AND WE DIDN'T PAY ANYTHING. WE DID THE ENTIRE OUTSIDE & INSIDE. IF WE SAW ANYONE OUTSIDE, WE JUST PUT OUR HANDS IN OUR POCKETS AND TRIED TO HIDE THE FACT THAT WE WERE NOT WEARING A BRACELET. NO ONE STOPPED US OR BOTHERED US. IT'S HUGE!!!!!!
CASINO IS NICE TOO... CAN YOU TELL I LIKE TO GAMBLE?
THAT'S ALL WE DID.

BERMUDA - WE DID THE SNUBA (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SCUBA) TOUR. THEY PICK YOU UP RIGHT THERE AND OFF YOU GO- THEY GAVE US WETSUITS CAUSE THE WATER WAS FRIGID. I HAVE BEEN SCUBA DIVING AND I LIKE TO SNORKEL AS WELL- I LOVE WATER. - THEY PUT YOU IN ABOUT 10 FEET OF WATER. CRYSTAL CLEAR!!!!!!! THEY GIVE YOU THE SCUBA DIVING MOUTH PIECE AS WELL AS THE FACE MASK AND PUT A WEIGHT BELT ON YOU. THE MOUTH PIECE HAS A HOUSE ATTACHED WHICH GOES UP TO THE TOP OF THE WATER WHERE YOUR OXYGEN TANK IS SITTING IN A LITTLE RAFT FOLLOWING YOU ALONG. I LIKED IT. SHORT- 20 MINUTES IN THE WATER. BUT GOOD. AFTER YOU CAN SUN BATH OR WALK AROUND. WE TOOK THE TAXI BACK - SHOWERED ON THE BOAT AND THEN WE TOOK THE BUS TO A BEACH TO PICK UP THE "PINK" SAND. TOOK MORE PICS. JUMPED BACK ON ANOTHER BUS.
THE BUS RIDE COSTS ABOUT $10.00 PER PERSON ROUNDTRIP I THINK.
DEAR GOD- YOU BETTER HOLD ON!!!!!!!! OUR DRIVER SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES EVERY FOUR SECONDS.
I TOOK A ZIPLOCK BAG WITH ME AND FILLED IT W/SAND. THEN I BROUGHT IT HOME AND PUT IT INTO A LAMP. IT'S PRETTY. BEATS THE HECK OUT OF OUR NASTY CONNECTICUT SAND!!!

THE SHOWS ON THE SHIP ARE AWESOME! WE HAD A JUGGLER -A FAMOUS GUY 9TH GENERATION JUGGLER- NOT TOO BAD LOOKING EITHER. LOVES TO BE HASSELED!!!!

WE ALSO HAD A HYPNOTIST NAMED TIM SOMETHING OR OTHER. HE WAS GOOD- DON'T MISS HIS SHOW- GET SEATS FACING THE STAGE VS. THE SIDE. YOU NEED TO SEE THE EXPRESSIONS ON THE PEOPLE'S FACES WHEN HE MAKES THEM DO SILLY THINGS. IT'S HYSTERICAL!!!!

THE DANCER'S WERE GREAT ALSO! OLGA & ANTON- BOTH FROM SPAIN - WERE THE FLAMINGO DANCERS/ HOLY COW HE MAKES HER LOOK GOOD! DON'T GET ME WRONG SHE IS FANTASTIC ON HER OWN, BUT MAN HE MAKES HER EVEN BETTER. I HAVE A CRUSH ON HIM....

FOOD- EH TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.
ROOMS- SMALL BUT THEY GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED.
CABIN STEWARDS- FANTASTIC!!!!
CREW OVERALL - AMAZING PEOPLE!!!

I PERSONALLY THOUGHT FREESTYLE WOULD BE SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TIME I GET HUNGRY. IT CHANGES DAY TO DAY, BUT THEY WANT YOU TO BASICALLY RESERVE YOUR RESTAURANT TIMES AS SOON AS YOU GET ON THE SHIP - GO TO DECK 7 MID SHIP.
YOU CAN ALSO BOOK YOUR EXCURSIONS RIGHT THERE AS WELL.

ANYWAY, I HAD A GREAT TIME AND I HOPE YOU DO TOO. GOOD LUCK WITH THE WEATHER- AND IF YOUR LEAVING OUT OF NYC, BRING A SWEATER. MY HONEY SCOFFED WHEN I TOLD HIM TO PACK ONE AND BOY DID HE NEED IT!!!!!!

I HOPE MY TIPS HELPED YOU OUT.
