We are leaving in 2 weeks for the POH and starting to look at the different specialty restaurants etc. As everyone mentions, book these ASAP on embarkation. However, we don't want to miss other activities. Does anyone know approximately what time the shows are? Is there an bon voyage party at 8:00 pm when we sail?
Is it a good idea to make reservations the night we sail ? Are the specialty restaurants better that night? I am thinking we are on the ship 5 nights and there are 4 specialty restaurants, so we are just thinking ahead.
Thanks in advance.
Bill, The evening shows are usually at 7:30 and 9:00 it changes every day depending on what time the ship sails. what worked for us was early dinner(6:00 PM) then 7:30 show. You can get into either of the main dinning rooms without a reservation easily at 6. The speciality rooms you must reserve, but, only 24 to 36 hours in advance. So you have to do that every day. We found the free main dining rooms to have excellent food and service. Never any wait. Cagneys Steak House was well worth the $20 service charge. Have a great time, don't sweat the small stuff, its NOT a "triditional" cruise experience.
Thanks for the info....Having 2 children, this cruise made a lot of sense for Island hopping (no packing, getting to airports 2 hrs early etc). It's basically our floating hotel. We have Thrifty Rental cars reserved at each port to do our own thing. And we will probably be eating early. Now just waiting to go.....
Was there a party on the ship on embarkation??
Not really any party, the buffet was open and some of the bars. They let us on the ship at about noon, but the cabins were not ready so we had to hang around till about 3PM. Get some lunch and enjoy the pool. Our luggage didn't show up till 9:00PM, many people got thiers earlier. But to be safe you might want to bring a bathing suit in your carry-on bag. Especially for the kids cause they wont have much to do (except eat) till you get into your cabin and get your bags.
