My wife and I have sailed on the Sun and the Jewel twice and are about to book the Pearl for a Feb cruise. We have always been pleased with the balcony cabins. My wife's mother, sister, and 7 year old niece, will be coming along also. They were on the Jewel with us and the three of them had a balcony cabin with two single beds and the pullout. It was very crowded for them when the pullout was used. The next catagory up is the Mini Suite. The brochure talks about additional footage and also a bathtub but does not really talk about extra bedrooms ( unless it's a penthouse). Does anyone have any experiece with the Mini Suite and would it offer my inlaws any real usable extra space?
you may get more bang for the book with one of the garden/courtyard villas or doing a family suite. they have so many different catagories that it is tough to tell the difference. we have had balcony cabins and penthouses, and mini suites. i would say look at the cabin numbers online (if you go halfway through the booking process you can do this) and they will show the square footage for that individual cabin. cabins in the same category can fluctuate up to 30-50 square feet in balcony and mini-suites and even more in pnthouses. we are on the gem in December and are paying for a mini suite that is 10 square feet smaller than a full suite but 30 square feet bigger than everything else in the same catagory. so do your research and you will find the best deals. email me and i will show u how to do it.
