Default NCL Pearl - ATV Beach or Speed Boat Escape (Cozumel)

Hello

We are set to sail Oct 14-19th. Can anyone provide us some details on the ATV Beach and Speed Boat Escape? ATV appears to give you options to see culture (ruins) and the Speed Boat provides a Mexican grilled buffet. Has anyone experienced either of these? Are the speed boats fun and full of excitement? Is the buffet any good? Is the ATV excursion pretty dirty and dusty and at times boring? I am just trying to weigh some options as to what we are going to chose. Thanks so much. Your personal experience will weigh heavily on what we decide to do.

If this is the tour you are talking about we did it in 2006.

ATV BEACH & JUNGLE ADVENTURE
Approximate Duration: 5 hours Level 2, Age, Weight
This wild adventure begins in Mezcalitos, located on the northeast side of the island. An approximate 10-mile scenic trail will lead you through dense jungle to a secluded beach. Soak up the sun and cool off in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean while enjoying snacks and soft drinks, served on the beach. Climb back on the ATV and head to the ruins of La Palma for an exciting glimpse of the long lost Mayan Civilization.
Note: Participants must be at least 6 years of age and maximum weight per ATV must not exceed 350 lbs. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age and bring a valid driver’s license. Due to the rough terrain, this tour is not recommended for guests with heart, respiratory, back or neck conditions/injuries. Pregnant women cannot participate. We recommend you bring a bathing suit, towel, comfortable shoes, a hat and sunglasses. The snorkeling part of this tour will be replaced if bad weather conditions occur.

I would do it again but not for the timid. Don't expect much if any instruction. They hand you a helmet and off you go. Rocky trail thru what was a jungle befoe the last hurricane. Some should have grown back by now. Half the trip on the coast road (I got the ATV up to 50 mph )

You beach stop is a nice bar free snacks and good food. Imagine a tour in the states where they serve you beer before you get back on an ATV.

Thanks Shore Guy this is pretty awesome and the pictures are truly enticing .

Quick questions though...Do you recall coming away from the excursion pretty filthy? Also, would you recommend for someone how has never driven at ATV?

I was looking at this tour for our Nov. cruise, but through Carnival. Their description says to wear clothes you can get dirty. We did an ATV tour in Denali last year, and I ended up pretty muddy. The ATV in front of you can throw up dirt/mud, so don't follow too close if you want to stay relatively clean.

Pretty clean when we got back (dusty) - most of the ride was on rock, road, or sand. The Island was bone dry. The ATV adventure we did in Anitgua was another story with my son hit every puddle to cover me in mud.

You will survive as a first time rider - there were many on the tour. By the end you will be an ATV driver
