Default Pride of America Hawaii

I have read a lot of criticism about NCL. I will be a diamond member of RCI in Dec. I have also traveled Carnival 3 times. My wife and I are in our 60's. I can only give kudos to NCL. We just got back 9-16-07. I had no problems , food was iffy at times , so was the other ships. I had no problems with service but the "elite" felt like they were not pampered>

8) Hello this was a free style cruise. I can recommend NCL especially the Pride of America. We did the pre-cruise at Marriott Beach Resort with NCL. They booked us into motel and the next morning they registered us and did our paper work. We were taken by bus to ship and had a special line for us to walk right in. Kudo's again. Took about 2 minutes to board. Embarkations took about 5 minutes. This was the smoothness embarkation and debarkation that we have ever had. By the way, the islands are to die for.

I am a big RCCL fan and just returned from NCL's Pearl to Alaska. I, too, had a very good cruise with NCL. I know we are talking about two totally different cruises, but our service was outstanding. I really enjoyed "freestyle cruising" and can see myself doing it again.

David,
I really appreciate your report on your hawaii experience on the Pride of America. I've booked my mom and her parents on this in January. I posted in another thread about their worries on which side of the ship they should be on (they are starboard side) and if they will be able to be in the balcony looking at islands.
Were you on port or starboard. And when you were in your cabin did you happen to have some island scenery?
Thanks for your time,
Zina

Zina: You travel mostly at night. I can't really see an advantage to be port or starboard. You really have to get up around 6 AM to see the ports as you pull in. Also as you leave some ports, there is some day light left, but again the view would vary from port to starboard. On the way from Kaua'i to Oahu you go by the Na'Pali coast line( just beautiful), but the ship turns and comes back by so there again no advantage.
Starboard will be just great, especially coming into Kaua'i, the mountains on starboard side are beautiful but again you have to be up early to see them. You are in most ports by 6:30 to 7:30 AM each day.

There really is no advantage like david said. The side that the ship is portside to depends on the pier they are going too. When there is safety drill it depends on which side of the ship that the lifeboats will be lowered.

we always go port side because i like to watch us tie up and most pier seem to be set up that way. We LOVED the Pride of America
