Pearl - cabins on deck 4?

Has anyone stayed on deck 4 (mid to forward) of the Jewel or similar ships? There is a passenger deck above, but I was wondering if there is much noise from below.

I got a really great deal on a K inside, but trying to decide if I should go up a couple of decks.

Just off the Pearl, cabin 4535, cat K. Ours backed up to a crew passage way and at times there was a bit of noise from there but not bad and no noise from below.

BUT it was a very small tight cabin. It was set up as queen bed with the bunk on one side and the fourth bed under one side of the queen. So was not easy to get suitcases under the bed. And there is a table that is set in the one corner so it is hard to get in one side of the bed. Also there were 3 drawers on one side of the closet and 4 shelves on the other.

3 small glass shelves in the bathroom. If you are even the least bit tall you have to sit sideways on the toilet. When the door to the bathroom is open it is almost impossible to get in the closet. there is a light in the closet that has an on/off switch and the doors have a cutout so you can leave this light on as a night light.

Except for one cruise we have always had an inside and this was the smallest yet. Our other cruises were on Princess.

If the bed had been set up as twins instead of queen then it would have been much better.

It does help! We were assigned 4547, which doesn't have any markings next to it to indicate it being a 3-4 berth cabin. I'm hoping that's correct and it's only a 2 berth. I know the diagrams in the brochures aren't always accurate, but it does appear to be a little bigger than the others. It also appears to be surrounded by other cabins, no obvious "blank" spots that could be service areas.

Another question: where is the nearest self-service laundry area?

Didn't use the laundry but I did hear that there is one on deck 5.

you can of course always ask for beds to be set up as single twins.......we have friends who were "down there" and they were fine, and had a great time!

we were on the Jewel, deck 4 very forward: We had no problems except hearing the engine noise when coming into port or leaving. Did it bother us? yes, some, would we do it again, for the price and the chance to cruise a really great ship? Yes. Now I just got off the Star, forward, deck 5, no problems.
