Default NCL Newbie

Hi everyone... I'm a 9 time RCCL Cruiser and booked on the Gem for 2/23 I'm very excited to try "Freestyle" Cruising and am hearing great things about this Ship. My parents who have cruised more times then any people I know, and all of the major cruiselines (80 plus cruises total) cruised on the Gem Xmas week and really enjoyed it. They say its the best Cruise Ship Buffet they've seen and all the food was very good. Dad loved the fact he didn't have to lug a suit with him

This is an entirely new cruising experience for us (Hubby and I) So bear with my possibly stupid questions.

So how does this "Upsell" process work? Is it random? Is everyone eligible?

Also I understand there is no "Wine Packages" you just buy by the bottle?

Upsell calls are random, at one time you or your agent could call in to see if any upsells existed, but those days are gone... so if you get that call and they offer you something you like, you are the lucky one, if not, better book what you'll be happy with.

There realy isn't a wine package, but prices are reasonable enough on wine.

There is the Honeymoon/Anniversary Package, with it you get:
Sparkling Wine and strawberries in your stateroom upon embarkation
Canap├ęs delivered to your stateroom one evening
Honeymooners' Champagne and Cake party
Honeymoon photograph
Romantic dinner for two in Bistro
for $79

Hey Dave
NCL is really convenient for us, we can drive to the Port... that and of course the Explorer of the Seas in Bayonne, but RCCL's prices are getting crazy, even with the C&A Discounts.... so ready to give it a try

Hey Davey! Are you trying to get away from Brittany Spears? I heard she's stalking you on the chit chat board...

They're sure going to miss you on the Enchantment

cruzin susan,

Are you referring to the upgrades at random or the new freestyle 2.0 program?

Dave the wave,

Give NCL a try; for the most part all mass marketed lines are similar with each having a nitch. Of course, NCLs nitch is freestyle with all the dining choices, flex dining times and relaxed dress code plus the ability to stay in your cabin on debarkation morning rather than gather in some public place.
