HI, I'D LIKE TO KNOW YOUR OPINIONS IF YOU HAVE CRUISED ON THE NCL JEWEL. WHAT DID YOU LIKE AND IF ANY DISLIKES AS WELL. I AM LOOKING INTO THIS SHIP FOR A CRUISE IN MARCH.I KNOW IT IS A NEW SHIP AND I'M A SINGLE GUY WHO HAS CRUISED MANY TIMES AND JUST LOOKING TO HAVE FUN. I'VE LEARNED THAT SOME SHIPS CAN BE ALOT OF FUN AND OTHERS CAN REALLY MAKE A CRUISE FEEL LIKE ETERNITY AND YOU CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO END. I'M SURE YOU CRUISERS KNOW WHAT I MEAN. THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING AND HAPPY CRUISING TO YOU AND YOURS IN THE FUTURE..PETE
NCL JEWEL MARCH 28TH 2008..LOOKING FOR CRUISEMATES. LETS ALL CHAT AND GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BEFORE WE SAIL OFF SOON..
The Jewel is a great ship. I was on it for its very first voyage in 2005. (It was neat being the first people to stay in a room!) We had a BA room and it was just fine. The ship is well laid out, the theatre is nice with great shows. I have had several customers sail on it since and haven't had any complaints, only praise. I have even sent my dentist on the Jewel twice!! He loves it. (you can imagine my pain if he didn't). I have just booked a mini suite on it for March of 09 and we are bringing two families with us that have never sailed before. I know they will like this one for sure.
Hope it helps
We cruised her when she was about 3 weeks old, a northern Atlantic crossing. I have never had so much fun as we had on that cruise. The ship is bright and energetic.. Some think the new colors are gaudy, I happen to love them. I think the designed did a great job.
If you like to have a good time, but are not looking for a really active night life I can't imagine you won't come back raving about all the fun you had. I memtion the night life simply because NCl isn't Carnival. My statement is not meant to knock Carnival, just to let you know NCl isn't as filled with party goers as Carnival.
Do remember, you will be sailing during spring break so there will be lots of families and kids on the ship. this can be a plus or minus for you, depending on how you see it and how you react.
Be sure an enjoy some of the specialty dining rooms.
I am sure, if you have read many of the cruise boards you will know it is rare to read a bad review on the Jewel. Like any ship some were not happy for whatever reason, but for us it was a wonderful experience.
The jewell is a beautiful ship...only minuses:
1. not too lively night life; there are always fun and games at Spinnacers lounge...Not too many partiers...I guess because there are not many singles
2. Make sure you eat early so that you can go to the shows and other excursions at night
3. If you dont like smoke, you will not like the casino
4. No classes, lectures exept for the info about the ports. I read that there would be language classes, etc and there was not any.
Other than these things, I had such a relaxing time.
