The Spirit hit the pier as we came in today. I was on our balcony(we were in 10012 capricorn suite opposite side from the damaged pier but i saw and heard the metal snap during the collision but did not feel any real movement in the ship) watching us pull in and watching the captain on the wing of the bridge bring us in using the control joystick at the time. I actualy waved to him and he waved back...I hope I did not distract him!
! the sound and sight was much like when you pull the tab on that plastic or metal strapping that binds packages.
