Actually you can make them the day before or day of: we have had the best luck by waiting til after breakfast, heading to the registration desk and talking to whom ever is there. There will be a location just for making restaurant reservations. Only once could we not get what we wanted, we tried to get into the Italain restaurant on the Star and waited til next to the last day. We haven't always gotten exactly the time we have wanted but usually within 1/2 hour of what we requested.
I realize that you can only make reservations at the restaurants on the "day of".
Has anyone figured out the best way to manage this with early morning excursions???
If you are not in a suite you can make a reservation 24 hours in advance. In May, on the Jewel, we did not have "any" problems with making reservations on the "day" we wanted dine. We also had no problem with walk-up reservations.
We basically were doing all of the restaurants so weren't too picky about which night we did most of them and the "restaurant availability" signs are a great way to see what restaurant had availability at different times. We usually didn't eat at the normal times so we never had to wait and always had a table for two. We usually ate around 7:00 p.m. or 8:30 - 9:00 p.m.
We did walk ups at: Mama's Italian, One night at Le Bistro and Tapas. We did make reservations at Mama's, Le Bistro, Cagney's, Chin Chin, Mongolian Hot Pot (In Chin Chin).
We did walk ups at the main restaurants:
I'm glad it was a twelve night cruise.
