Default NCL - Majesty

Is this ship a dump? Price seems too good to be true.

The ship is not a dump as I understand it, but haven't been on it. I have had clients sail her in the past 6 months. The low prices reflect a couple of things: bad economy and older ship. that she is and not designed for free style so you will not get the many dining choices, now are you going to get glitz and glamour..You will get a friendly helpful crew.. The ship will be leaving the NCL fleet in 2009.

Of course I am sure you would not expect HIlton or Hyatt quality when paying Days Inn prices...

Thanks - that is what I expected. I only considered it b/c it leaves from Charleston and I am in NC.

Because it leaves from Charleston, many living in the area are disappointed she will be retired..They love being close to an embarkation port.

I have sailed on her 5x and i love the majesty. She is small compared to the new ships. That's why i love sailing on her. I like the smaller ships more than the big ones.

I just booked two cabins on Majesty on January 3. I had some of the same concerns, but the fact that I can avoid paying for a flight to the port made it worth the older, less glitzy ship.

Do not fret about losing a small ship in Chas.as in 2010 Celebrity will have a smaller ship here for four mos. beginning in Jan with 10 and 11 day cruises. The ship is the Mercury and yes bigger than Majesty but much smaller than most of the other more recent ships. You also have carnival with 2 sailings in 2009 in May and Nov. on the Victory which is much larger than Mercury.

This is good news but only to an extent: it would be better if a line would put a ship in Charleston permentantly, not just a few months and the longer cruises do not fit the needs of many as they prefer 7 day sailings. It will be interesting to see how this pans out. I would be surprised if NCL stays there; with 2 of their ships leaving the fleet they are going to down on inventory and many NCL lovers are pushing NCL to return to Houston.

The Majesty is far from being a dump.

I cruised aboard her twice when she was based in Boston. True, she is an older smaller ship. You won't find all of the bells & whistles of the Megaships.

However, you will find a clean well kept ship with a helpful friendly crew.

The food was good when I sailed. I don't know how it is now.

Enjoy your cruise.

I love the Majesty. Sailed twice on her. Clean, older, smaller, and one of the best staffs I've seen on a ship.
Enjoy!
