Default Practical questions about the GEM

Is there a "laundry room" with washers and dryers? Does one need coins?

If you have a suite, is Cagneys open for lunch? breakfast? is there a surcharge?

Which resturants now have a surcharge?

I know that when you first board the rooms are not likely to be ready and they steer passangers up to the Lido resturant. Is there a main dining room open from noon to 2PM? There was on the POH.

How much is the daily and/or weekly charge for the spa "relaxation area?

thanks, Jimbo

Oh, Ive been on many cruises and i really love freestyle and everything about NCL. For the money NCL cant be beat!!!

Let me try an answer your questions

There was a laundry room on the Gem. No charge. 4 quarters for soap. The fact is NCL is closing all the laundry rooms and they should be gone by the time you cruise.

Cagney's is open for breakfast and lunch at no charge for penthouse passengers (not mini suite). It will be open when you board as well as one main dining room so no need to fight the crowds in the lido.

Not sure of the weekly charge for the spa. Last I heard $15 a day $75 for a week.

Surcharge in all the specialty resturants $10-$20. Easier to list those without. 2 main dining rooms, garden cafe , Great Outdoors, Blue Lagoon.

That is a good price for the spa area - $75/cruise.

Glad you like NCL, I like them, too.

Welcome aboard. There is a meet and greet planned on another board. I have found perhaps 40 others on various boards. You can PM me for details

shoreguy, why are they removing the washing machines? While I personally never used them, I know others who have. It seemed to be handy for a friend who was on with three kids..

Not sure why but I believe it to be a combination of cost (machine maintenance) sanitation with god knows what going into the washers, and revenue better to have passenger pay for laundry services.

Put all 3 together and the green eyeshades in Miami can produce a compelling business case to pull the rooms.

I vote revenue:

This is quite disappointing. I greatly enjoy this feature on a ship. I wouldn't wash large items but it is nice to wash some t-shirts, shorts and undergarments at some point throughout the cruise. It cuts down on the packing requirements.

I'll have to voice my displeasure with this change.

Take care,
Mike
