AE is perfect for Feb from NYC. Aft facing balcony out of the wind and weather will be usable even in the cold weather the first and last 24 hours.

I will be on th Gem Feb 4th. The 6th Feb. cruise from NYC for me and 3rd cruise on the Gem.

You are going to be spoiled for life. Alex Forbes will be back onboard as the Concierge. He is the best and will handle any all reservations for you. Your butler will stop by every day with treats and available for all you room service requests including meals served in the penthouse from any restaurant onboard.

You will have VIP checkin in NYC. Alex will meet you in the VIP lounge and you will be escorted onboard before general boarding ~11:30 am

AE on the Gem (really pictures are of an AD identical to an AE except for a deeper balcony)

More AE pictures here.

Does an AE get the snacks every day? The NCL suite site says twice during the cruise.

Everyday. They now have a menu to choose your snacks to avoid wast. I can't remeber all the options but one was a cheese plate the other fresh baked pretzels.

I'm planning to book a Penthouse for our next cruise and think that the breakfast and lunch at Cagney's will be the best perk. Is the food better there than in the other restaurants for breakfast and lunch? Do they serve anything from their dinnermenu? I guess that there are no big pieces of meat at lunch but maybe some of their great desserts?

The food is clearly a cut above if for no other reason cooked to order.

The Steak and eggs with a petite fillet excellent

Eggs Benedict with crab cake

Typical lunch menu it changes daily

I can recommend the noodles with scallops. My 14 year old daughter didn't care for hers so I ate her portion too.

Hello,

We are leaving for our 3rd cruise on January 25th out of NYC on the GEM. We are in an AD. I can't thank you enough for the helpful information you have posted on here shoreguy. The internet site always has an * beside the info and you never know if your room is included or not.

We have taken 2 other cruises, a balcony room out of NYC on the Dawn and most recently a courtyard villa on the Jade out of Instanbul in April 2008. I really wasn't sure what the AD would include but figured it would be somewhere in the middle.

Do we get an invitation to the Captain's VIP cocktail party? What is the dress like for this. I know when we went on the Jade it was very fancy.

Thanks!

Yes you get the invitation to the VIP cocktail party. Most people tend to dress up a bit more for the party since it is the same night as "dress up if you want" Not many in formalware but most men had a jacket and since it is freestyle you will find passengers in all styles of dress.
