That's really too bad. Sometimes washing in the room is not enough. I recall being on a few HAL ships, and making friends with other people in the laundry room. it's especially nice if it's a long cruise, of if you have kids. i guess they make more money charging you for your laundry.

We have a 14 day Jewel cruise scheduled in October, and we too really enjoy the convenience of the laundry onboard. However, we intend to drop our laundry off halfway through the cruise at a laundry in port. Most likely Aruba or Curacao. Should be a better solution. We'll drop it off on our way to the beach and pick it up on our way back to the ship. This is actually the best of both worlds. I don't end up spending vacation time doing laundry, and not paying an arm and a leg for the ship to do it. You might check it out and see if that will work for you.
I actually called NCL directly yesterday after making my post. Wish I'd thought of that first. Got the answer from the horse's mouth. I also went to the NCL website, which sadly still states that the Pearl has the self serve launderettes. I brought this to NCL's attention.
