On our soon coming cruise on the Jade we have a Penthouse with facilities for disabled, in what way is it different from the other cabins in the same category? (Our cabin is 9172, AE)
We don't need the facilities, we just got that cabin.
The bathroom as expected completely different and it required a bath mat damn on see days to keep the water from flooding the cabin. No dining table, no sofa. Both removed to allow wheelchair access. Ramps took up a fair amount of space inside and on the balcony. Twin beds that can be made up as a queen. Regular AE has a true queen. The dressing area and two side closet replace by an accessible closet.
Note sky hook that was installed on my transatlantic since the swing down bar keep falling, forcing open the closet doors, and blocking entrance to the cabin
You get all the perks but when the ship was first designed this space was a BA HC cabin and retrofitted as an AE.
I am not sure how many if any of these differences were coreected or changed when the Jade was built ??

You scared me with what you said but NCL are always easy to deal with and they have now changed my cabin to a "normal" AE on deck 8.

Excellent move for two reasons. First you will be much happier and second it frees up the HC cabin for someone who may need it. I enjoyed the cabin but I only paid for a BA.
There are still lots of cabins left and it's only 37 days until the cruise starts so if someone should need the HC cabin and I still had it, NCL should probably upgrade us instead of saying to thoose in need of a HC cabin that they can't go.
I think that deck 8 is a little too low but I really prefer that!

You are better off on deck 8. The balcony is in fact deeper then deck 9. I just booked deck 8 aft facing on the Jade for November.
shoreguy, do you have any pictures from 8632 on the Jade? (if not, on the Jewel?)
These are from an AE on the Jewel. Layout should be identical. They have gone with new bedding since these pictures were taken so sunglasses not needed
