Question Bar Drinks

My husband and I are cruising in July on the Star. We are still trying to figure out our budget and after a lot of searching, I have finally found copies of a bar menu on an NCL ship. The menu is from 2007. I've read several posts on this site complaining about how expensive the drinks are on these ships; however, after looking at the bar menu, I don't see that the prices are all that unreasonable. The menu showed around $4.00-$6.00 for a beer and around $6.00-$8.00 for just a regular drink. Have the prices gone up that much in the last couple of years?

Also, I haven't been able to find a wine menu. Can anyone give me an idea of what a bottle of wine might cost?

Thanks!!

No, the prices are about the same.

A borttle of wine on a cruise ship is usually anywhere from $25 on up... They may have some cheaper vintages but not much of a selection.

You have to figure you are going to get about 5 glasses from a bottle so you save a little bit.

I did not find the drinks too expensive. Sort of like your basic bar/ restaurant rate. I had things from rum runners, mai tai's and pina coladas and typically didnt pay more than$6 each. Just ask for a regular glass. If you get an NCL larger cup its more like $11. You may get more drink and you may want the glass but just keep that in mind. I know they have a daily drink special and specials on buckets of beer. I tend to buy on board credits in advance so I can try not to worry about what I am spending. You can also get a copy of your statement if you need to see where you are in spending.

The last time I was on NCL, it was the media cruise on the Gem, all the dinks were at no charge...so I tried my first martini....at the time, the menu stated they were around $11.00 or $12.00 a pop!

I also drink Berengers white zin, in the dining room .My last cruise while not NCL, thAT bottle, was $29.90, with tax.[oh my] Around 6-10.00 at home, depending on the size...In Oct, on the Epic, I will do it again, no matter what the price..

In general for mixed drinks, and beers, I think the pricing is reasonable.

I think prize for wine is extremly high.
one pay 30 USd for 3 USD wine.
but I have no problem with it, because I drink
no alkohol , so I hope that people who are paing for a
poison (and any alkohol is a poison) make my cruise a little bit
cheaper

Paul, you are right, I acutally have the menu from our Pearl cruise in April. Basic cocktails, standard brands run about $5.75, premium brands from $6.25 to $7.50 and martinis from about $7.00 on upward. Yes a bottle of wine starts at $25.00 and goes up from there.

This is what we've found, too. It seems that the house bar prices are about what you'd pay at a bar home .
