NCL calls after I look at their website

Has anyone else had this happen to them? We were looking at different things on NCLl website over a short period of time recently and two days in a row, NCL sales call me and asks if they can help me. They told me that I was looking on their website too many times and wondered if I needed help or had any questions. A call to them first denied this, but I had the rep's name and they checked with her and finally admitted it does happen and that there is a tracking cookie associated with the site. Comments anyone? Many thanks and BE CAREFUL, BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING EVEN YOU!

I've had the same thing on NCL and Carnival . If you set up an online access ID with them they track you each time you visit the site.

I told them to "take me off their calling list" that if I had any problems, I'd be the one doing the calling. Kinda scary, though, to think that you are under surveillance!

Next time tell them to remove you from their call list.

When you registered on the site you included your personal information and they use it.

Almost all websites can and do track activity. It depends on their policy on what they do with that information.

Take care,
Mike

me too

I browzed. A few days later I got an E mail showing me the 2 cruises I was looking at and saying they were still available. Not sure which site I was on though.

I would imagine even this site is using cookies to track our visits. But I think it's kind of lame for a co. to use it as an invitation to call! Normally a pop up would come on, but many people are now blocking those, so I guess this is the way NCL and some others are trying to drum up business.

IMO, it's a good idea to delete the cookies in your system every so often, and just before you get ready to do a search or book something online.
