What Are Your Top 5 Memories Of Your First Cruise?
What Are Your Top 5 Memories Of Your First Cruise? Many of us have sailed more than once, but the first cruise was filled with anticipation, wonder and perhaps many other thoughts. Since that first cruise there have been several on CCL, RCL NCL. . .but the first one still stands out.
My first cruise was on board P&O SS Canberra sailing 16 days from Los Angeles, CA to Auckland, New Zealand. So my top 5 are:
#5 Arriving at the pier in San Pedro, CA and see the ship from the car
#4 Standing on the deck throwing long streamers over the side of the ship
#3 Hearing the ships horn blasting as the ship pulled back from the pier
#2 Cruising under the Gold Gate Bridge in San Francisco for 1st port of call
#1 Six days at sea in the South Pacific after leaving Hawaii and enjoying the incredible dinning each night on this proud British Ship that is no longer in service. Her last cruise was September 10--30, 1997. She was scrapped a few year later. I have the mini life raft of P&O Canberra hanging on my office wall. Circa Oct 1969.

My cruise memories are as follows
1: See the ship and how big it looked
2:The sail away from the port in Orlando
3:My first day at sea and how blue the water was
4: The dining room and all of the food
5: The bahamas as my first time out of the states
What ship were you on?
Cruisemama. . .what ship were you sailing on your first cruise? Ya, understand seeing the ship for the first time and dinning room with all the food.
Hi Tex: my first cruise was on the CCL Fantasy since then we are hooked and have
sailed 6 more times once on RCCL and 5 times on NCL. We really like freestyle, even
though I know alot don't. We Sailed the first time in 2004.
1. How Blue and Clear the water was.
2. How wonderful it was to be gently rocked to sleep at night by ships motion.
3. The food!!! And "I" didn't have to fix it!
4. Our cabin was roomy.
5 How Friendly everyone was.
6. How CLEAN the ship was... ( we were on NCL Pearl)
What a great memory
What a great memory. Keep cruising rofl
The Great Disney Magic
I was so impressed with the Disney Magic, I just could not believe that it was for real. In many ways the ship is "the Magic" like so many Disney Park guests have told me about the Disney of Old. The ship and her staff were outstanding in every way, truly the best the Walt Disney Company has to offer. Really I believe the ship and the Line don't get the credit, in the cruise industry they rightly deserve. In the end, its the "kid things" that get them with formal review. There ratings deserve to be equal to that of Crystal and other Luxury lines.:D:pLOL
This has to be a Love Boat Experience
I have to say this is the most romantic of all the replies to the thread I started on Memories.of first cruise. It is from another board I am on, but wanted to share it with Cruise Mates. This is a true LOVE Boat Experience. Read it and decide for yourself. Let us know what you think!
WOW! Whata 1st cruise!
Widowed the year before, in 1990 I booked the Dawn Princess, San Juan-Los Angeles. Decided to "check out" every sweet young thing on the 2 week sailing thru the Canal.
2nd night out, met this lovely young creature. We played trivia, walked the top deck in the Caribbean moonlight and talked.
3rd night out, same thing.
4th day, had our 1st date in Curacao. Treated her to pizza lunch on board. (big spender) 5th day saw her all day and evening 6th " " " " "
7th " " " " "
8th - 14th day same thing.
Never got around to "checking out" any of the others.
We've been married now for 18 years!
Our first cruise was in the late 80's (I think) on a now defunked ship and line (can't remember names at the moment) but it was quite old - had been a troop carrier in WWII, so you know it had seen better days - but we had a good time.
1. Again - blue water!
2. My first casino
3. The elaborate ruit and vegetable carvings
4. Sailing into Miami port at sunrise and all those other cruise ships
5. The ship sounding three blasts as we would leave each port
our first cruise was the early 80s and I can remember every detail I think. The ship was the Caribe, the cruise line: Commodore, both are long gone.
1-wonderful wait staff and awesome food.
2-dancing with one of the staff members (he had really bad breath)
3-playing "not so newly wed game" and winning
4-the really funny pool: just a hole in the ship, the same depth everywhere and very saltly.
5-we could buy booze and take it back to our cabin: boy did we!!!!!
and one more thing, we were with my mother in law. Who got to take her on a tour in San Juan and who got to go with DD and SIL to the Barcardi Factory? I'll give you a clue: I didn't go to the Barcardi factory and to this day the 3 of them suffer for their pushing her onto me!!!!:p
