Hi! I'll be going on my very first cruise in June of 2011 on the Norwegian Dawn--from Boston to Bermuda for 7 days. Anyone else going? Also, any advice for a first time cruiser? I also get terrible motion sickness, so am worried it'll ruin my trip. Everyone's giving me advice on what to do, including ginger pills, bonine, etc. I'm hoping it all works! :-) Thanks!
The bonine always works for me. Follow the directions, and take your first dose before the ship sails.
Also, a cabin on a lower deck midship is the best location. We did this cruise last June on the Spirit. Our group had ocean view cabins on deck 4----hardly felt anything. We loved the Spirit and Bermuda, as well.

i have heard ginger pills work very well and do not make you sleepy. Bonine might keep your tummy settled but might make you sleepy.
There is nothing that is fool proof. I will ask you how many timess you have cruised on a cruise ship? I only ask this because many people who get sick on smaller ships have no problems cruising. I would think about the patch behind the ear as well. Talk to your doctor, he/she will be able to advise you better. BTW, you can get pills from the med staff on the ship.
I have cruised several times and I don't ever want to know if I get sea sick so I wear the Sea Bands. They work well, very well! I like to be able to have a few cocktails so I prefer not to use medication. The trick is not to start feeling sick as once you do it's harder to get better. Try to keep ahead of it! have a Ball on your cruise, we did and are also going again this yr.
