Today, our 2nd sea day, we had the star of our Epic cruise, Chef Matt Sigel, from Hell’s Kitchen, give our Cruisemates, a cooking demonstration. Matt’s engaging personality, and honesty about the life of a chef, on and off tv, gave us a behind the scene look at his life, since Hells Kitchen.
We had a big crowd, in Cagney’s Steakhouse, and the ship was wonderful, in giving us the perfect venue, and, support team, who made the same recipes, for the crowd.
Matt started off showing us how to make lamb tare tare. I know, I know, you’re probably saying, as I did, raw meat??
Well, I am a convert! A bit of the lamb, on toasted pita triangles, was delicious. A nice show piece for a cocktail or holiday party.
If making risotto, has scared the pants off you, Chef Matt, showed us just how easy it can be… It’s not a 1-2-3- dish, but, after seeing it done, I am willing to try it. We all got a tasting, and the Cagney staff wanted to eat what Chef Matt had prepared.
Between the cooking demo’s, Chef Matt, regaled us with tales of Gordon Ramsey and the show, took audience questions, and gave us all a primer, of recipes, hints, kitchen terminology, and a discount code to get some great knives!
Friday, we will have another demo….cooking at sea, a good thing! More to comeJ
