Default Taking Bottles of Water on Board

I'm getting a little confused and reading conflicting information. Can you take onboard bottled water, I have done with Princess and Carnival, but the rules seem to be changing. I was planning on buying quite a few bottles to take in hand luggage. NCL Jade in March here I come.

Yes: You can take sealed bottles of water on board.

Take care,
Mike

no problem, you can bring as much water on as you like. If you call NCL they may tell you no, but you can. You can bring soda as well. Hopefully this will continue for years.

Henry,
Other than a couple of bottles you might happen to be drinking at the time of boarding, why would your water be open? Not sure I understand.

Henry I get that.. but did you bring a couple of open bottles on board, or did you bring a case of water onboard, with all the bottles open? And if so, why would you open them?
