Sailing out of New York: Where is the best view of the Statue of Liberty?
Sailing on the Jewel February 27 with 2 young children. Have a starboard balcony but want to show the kids , aged 4 &7 the best view of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty at sailaway. Suggestions please.
We sailed out of New York in early February two years ago and I have to say the experience has left me with grand memories. Dress warm and get up on the deck early. The lights coming on in Manhatten, The statue of Liberty, it was all wonderful. The deck got crowded early so bundle up and enjoy.
As high up as you can get, and as far forward or aft. Liberty Island, and Ellis Island as well, are to starboard. Also, stick around for the "sail-under" of the Verazzano Narrows Bridge. From the top of the ship, you can see the rivets holding it together.
All in all, Manhattan is the best sailaway experience!
