Yes, there was always plenty to do. I enjoyed every day from beginning till end. We didn't go to any of the napkin folding type classes but we both always found something to do.
I really enjoyed the casino. I found early that if you treat the staff nice and keep trying to get people to gamble with you, the drinks are free, no matter what you are spending. I am not a big spender but I love craps and poker and had a blast.
I went to several of the beer tastings (uh, you get to see why I had so much fun -
). I live near Fort Collins, CO and we have incredible beer here and I have close friends that own a brew pub. I almost didn't go to the tastings because I thought they would be lame. In one way they were, the bartender running the tastings was reading the information off a sheet and there were several of us in the crowd that knew more about beer than he did. However, he made the whole thing so much fun - I went to a second one, and enjoyed that just as much!
We enjoyed the "Murder at Sea" or what ever it was called that was done by Second City. A lot of the music on board was good.
We found the crew to be very good. I run a Camp/Conference Center and I know good customer service. I gave the crew high ratings.
The food was very good. I usually ate Breakfast at their buffet and found nothing to complain about, well - the coffee is not that great but drinkable.
We usually did Supper in the MD. I really enjoyed the food here. I tried a lot of items that I have heard people complain about, steak for example. I found the steak to be very good. I certainly have had better but only at a very expensive steak house.
We ate at several of their specialty restaurants. And enjoyed them. Cagney's for me was a slight disappointment for me but my wife really enjoyed her meal.
The ship was recently refurbished and everything looked very new and clean. All through the cruise I kept seeing evidence of ongoing cleaning and maintenance.
We really enjoyed the Dawn. We want to try other ships for our next few cruises but would book the Dawn again without hesitation.
