Has anyone cruised on the Norwegian Gem recently .One of my neighbors will be cruising on the Gem in 2 weeks. He is 84 years old and is concerned about something told to him. According to what he was told in order to board a tender from the ship one must climb a 10 step ladder on the outside of the ship .
I personally have never heard of such a thing buit then I've never been on a tender .
Don't know where he heard that, but we were on the Gem and never saw anything like that at all and never had any problems with the tenders.

There are sometimes a few steps, but they are not rope! I have seen staff help people who are in wheelchairs or using walkers get on and off tenders. Tell him not to worry too much. Many ports now don't use tenders. So, unless he is going on one of the mega ship that are too big to dock, he may not need to even use tenders.
Can you tell us what ship and ports?
