We are cruising on Norwegian Spirit next week (for the first time), around the Mediterranean. The ship starts out of Barcelona in Spain.
The documentation I have received says that boarding starts at 12 noon, departure is at 5pm, and the latest for checking in is two hours before, i.e. 3pm
The problem is we are scheduled to arrive at Barcelona railway station at 2:25pm, and it is 20 mins taxi ride to the pier, getting us there just 15 mins prior to the deadline.
Of course, we are now worried that if the train is a few mins late, or we have to queue for a taxi, or search for the right check in area, we might be be refused check-in if we are a few mins later than the 3pm deadline.
My question is: how strict are they on the deadline of two hours before departure? We have done on-line check in.
They do realize that flights/trains, etc. can run late, they have that 2 hour period to take of the late arrivals....Just get to the pier as quick as you can and you should be OK. Be sure to have all your travel documents ready, for a speedy check-in.
If you can catch an earlier train I would recommend that. Our experience last year showed the Spanish trains to be pretty prompt, but you never know what can happen.
