We're going on the Nautica cruise from Barcelona to Athens this summer. Making plans and wondering the answers to the following questions:
1) May we take our own liquor on board with us? I hear the drinks are expensive and we're thinking of purchasing some wine in Barcelona to take along and serve ourselves in the cabin. Permittable?
2) Deciding between the cruise excursions and making our own reservations. Any suggestions?
3) Is it worth it to take your own laptop? Will it work in the cabin? If so, is wireless available in the cabin?
4) What is the maximum luggage we are permitted to take on board?
1)so far you are allowed to take liquor onboard for consumption in your cabin, if you take wine to the dining rooms there is a $20. corkage fee
expensive is subjective ..we found the drinks on a recent NCL cruise a lot more than Oceania
I don't think they have a limit but you have to store the suitcases in your cabin ...if you are flying the airlines do have weight retrictions
In addition to the below, the corkage fee for wine is waived if the bottle is given as a gift on behalf of Oceania Cruises. It is still applicable for gifts given by a relative, friend, or anyone outside of Oceania Cruises.
Oceania shore excursions are always highly recommended. You will have peace of mind knowing that you are on an Oceania Cruises excursion. Let's say the tour is running late, and you are cutting it close to the time the ship departs port, wouldn't you rather be on an excursion with ALL Oceania cruises passengers so that the ship waits for you to arrive? I think so...
Wireless internet is not available in your cabin. However, there is wireless available on pretty much all of deck 9 (poolside and the Oceania@Sea computer lab).
As far as luggage is concerned... If the airline will allow you to bring it, then there will be no problem bringing it onboard the ship with you.
Regarding Oceania's excursions, they're priced on par with the other mid-priced shore excursions. I'm told that only 30% of the passengers buy an excursion, most set up their own.
You'll have a much more memorable land experience if you book shore ex on Google.......search for a private car with driver/guide. Be sure to take the phone number of the ship's port agent (listed in the daily program) in case you run into a problem.
