No socialist program has ever made this nation greater or stronger! We are supposed to be a nation of people who take responsibilities for ourselves and our families, a nation that doesn't ask for handouts!
I would like you to support your claim that those social programs are unconstitutional. I know the constitution pretty well, it is quite a short document. I don't remember seeing that in there.

THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION - We the People
I believe that the libertaian right bases this assertaion on the due process clause of the 5th Amendment:
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation
I believe that this is a weaker arguement than Article 1 Section 8 which I believe makes such programs constitutional:
1: The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

If Social Security and Medicare does not come under the classification of the General Welfare of the United States, I do not know what possibly could.

In the 1937 U.S. Supreme Court case of Helvering v. Davis the Court upheld the constitutionality of Social Security when George Davis of the Edison Electric Illuminating Company of Boston sued in connection with the Social Security tax.

As Chief Justice Roberts said when questioned about Roe v. Wade, it is settled law.

The irony of all this right-wing whining, of course, is that if Bush had presided over the killing of Bin Laden the celebration would still be going on.

The man put on a Halloween costume and posed on an aircraft carrier in 2003 ... with an erection! ... to celebrate "victory" in Iraq. Can you imagine what stunts he might have pulled for Bin Laden's death?!
