Default Issues

A lot has been said on here in the last couple of days, and a lot of mud has been slung, but are we ready now to talk about issues?

What is the one thing that you would like to see the new president tackle first, once in office?

I'll leave the order up to President Obama.

So you don't have an opinion on what should be done first?

I would like President Obama to remove all the troops from Afghanistan immediately and not prolong it like he did with Iraq .

This supposes that the President can actually do something.

The only thing the President can really do is act as Commander In Chief of the United States Armed Forces.

The Congress is the governmental body that enacts laws, and while the President can introduce legislation, he has no law-making ability. He can sign a bill into law, or veto it, but cannot make law. So it is The Congress that can actually do something, and it cannot or will not do so. Not until after the election, anyway. Until then, we taxpayers pay their salaries, to do nothing.......

We are not going to have a chance to make any real progress until after the 2014 mid-term elections.

Until then, the 2 Presidential election scenarios likely produce further gridlock.

First, if President Obama is re-elected, the Repulican majority in the House will block most Democratic proposals (as they do currently.)

Second, if Governor Romney is elected, the Democratic majority in the Senate will block most Republican proposals.

Not until one party gains clear control over both houses of The Congress, will we have a chance to make any progress, and for that to happen, we have to wait until after the 2014 mid-term elections.

Patience is the order of the day. Bet that isn't what you all wanted to hear, huh........?

As long as the Party of No, controls the house nothing will get done.

So, no one has any real issues. The debt hit 16 trillon today. The borders are wide open, Health care is still up in the air.

Someone surely has to have something to say about the issues.

OK, here goes...

1. Outlaw lobbyists
2. Severely limit political donations
3. Legislate to reverse the SC decision that a corporation is a person

Marsdude, I like your answers.

However No.1 will never pass because it puts money in the pockets of the people who pass the laws.

No. 2 might pass under the right mix inthe House and the Senate.

The US Supreme Court could overturn No. 3

My opinion is that when the (new) President takes office in Jan. 2013 there will probably be new problem to resolve.

The world has many hot spots and there are a lot of nuclear weapon under loose security in many countries.
We will be facing a food crisis next year, and if the severe weather patters continue there will be a potential for riots all over the world.

It is not for me to decide on the course of action, but the president will have his hands more than full.

I understood your statement. Not confused at all.

I just don't know why anyone would want that job.
