Default Diamonds from Ashes

A good friend of mine recently lost her dear husband in an accident, she is going to have a diamond made from his ashes, anyone heard of this over in the "colonies" I think it's a lovely idea any thoughts

Yes, I have heard of it. I think it is a great idea. The human body is mostly carbon, and so are diamonds.

You get to keep your loved one forever in a lovely setting that can make you feel really close to them. I think it is great way to keep a person's spirit alive in your memory.

I think anything a person can do to help them deal with a loss like that is a good thing.

Yes & it didn't help elsewhere when she announced what she was doing & someone said that the ashes probably weren't her husbands anyway & the diamond could be anything....Maybe so, but callous to the extent of cruelty I thought, now she will always wonder I think.

If it gives comfort to the bereaved,I say go for it.. When somebody admires your jewelry, you have to make the decision if you want to share the story of it, and, prepare for some comments you may not want to hear. Would I do it..no

Certainly not cheap, I looked online because I didn't like to ask...about 5,000 for half Carat I think but it also depends on cut & colour.
