Default US should cancel passports of any citizen going to fight for Syrian rebels.

Eric Harroun, a former Army soldier, faces charges related to allegations that he fought with the Nusra Front. Harroun should have his passport cancelled and brought to trial quickly.

US Muslims going to fight in a jihad forfeit their right to US citizenship.
You can't wait for them to come back to the US and become Boston bombers.

"Worries Mount as Syria Lures West’s Muslims
By ERIC SCHMITT

WASHINGTON — A rising number of radicalized young Muslims with Western passports are traveling to Syria to fight with the rebels against the government of Bashar al-Assad, raising fears among American and European intelligence officials of a new terrorist threat when the fighters return home.

More Westerners are now fighting in Syria than fought in conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia or Yemen, according to the officials. They go to Syria motivated by the desire to help the people suffering there by overthrowing Mr. Assad. But there is growing concern that they will come back with a burst of jihadist zeal, some semblance of military discipline, enhanced weapons and explosives skills, and, in the worst case, orders from affiliates of Al Qaeda to carry out terrorist strikes..."

Default US should learn from French and Netherlands about citizen jihadists

The French have stopped about 30 of their citizens for lengthy questioning under a law passed last year that allows charges to be brought for having traveled to terrorist training camps and combat zones where terrorist groups are involved. I like the idea of harassing these guys through questioning and then if convicted these guys could wind up in jail for a long time. Viva la France that will show the jihadists they are going to be rewarded for their religious zeal.

Netherlands knows they can't stop would be jihadists from leaving the country but they can stop recruitment which against the law and a sentence up to 4 years in jail or a fine of more than $100,000.

I know in the USA the civil libertarians would never permit a law like the one passed in the Netherlands to pass because they feel this is a violation of the freedom of religion.

Let them keep their passports - just charge them more. The government needs the money.

Charging them more for passports is a good idea, but it only gives the government more money to waste on other projects like supporting Iraq and Afghanistan and Obama's trips to make speeches about how he is going to solve unemployment problem.
Same speech, same smile, same waving hand, no action.
