Default Food Stamp Vote

Yesterday the House voted 217-210 to cut some $40 billion from the food stamp budget. Do you agree with this action or not? No equivocation. They only get to push one of two buttons. So do you. Yes or No?

Well, the results are in, and once again our Cruisemates prove that they are an involved and passionate group of "open debaters."

As of this writing (Saturday morning), 135 people have looked at the poll. The results:

Yes: 6 votes (4%)
No: 7 votes (5%)
Undecided/don't know/don't care/don't understand/don't know how to click a mouse: 122 votes (91%)

In other words, nine-tenths of those who viewed the poll couldn't even bring themselves to anonymously click "Yes" or "No."

Yawn. Open debate for the comatose.

I was too late to vote, but it would have been no. There is probably enough fraud and waste to cut more than that. Actually, Congress should cut a bit of EVERY government program.

I don't believe that's a waste of money to feed poor, hungry Americans.

Probably not.

But when you cut spending don't start with poor hungry kids.

Sadly, The Op didn't expect you or anyone else to read the bill, so they can say anything to get people upset. In fact children were protected.

Luanne...my neighbor who works for the USDA tells me the bill eliminates specific categorical eligibility criteria, that 39 states currently opt to utilize which will cut out 2-3 million currently low income primarily single female head of household, which in turn will cut out at least 300,000 children who receive free or subsidize school breakfast/lunch meals, which as you well know, for many are the only nutritional balance meals they will eat all day

Since you seem to have a grasp of this bills specifics, can you shed your insight on how the children are protected, so I can share with my neighbor?

It's sad that those who have enough to eat would take away from those who don't.

That's exactly what's happening across our country.
