Z Do you know where this chart came from? It does not include age, health needs, credit score, etc. I notice it doesn't include annual pay. All of those will play a role in what you will have to pay.

I think the best think for you to do is register and see for yourself what factors play a role. There are many false rumors still being circulated. Obviously, if you are trying to get a subsidy you will need to establish need, but if not, you fast track through. There are a number of plans from a number of providers. Help is available from a number of sources to help you choose.

If your income is less than $48,000 +/- you are entitled to a subsidy. The lower the income, the higher the subsidy.

As complex, and as security aware as the website has to be, and that many more people are trying to access that was planned for, there will naturally be a few glitches.

Of course, if money is no object, the system could have been scaled to an absurd level, but would be wasteful. There is still time to get the kinks worked out.

That's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying it.

I hope to not have to sign up. We have insurance, and although it has gone up, we have not heard anything other than it is the same as usual.

Not sure about that Z. If the site is messed up, how does the average person know if the info you give is protected?

FYI I Canadian company put the site together. Not important, but good trivia.

How do they know you are giving accurate info in the first place? I assume you aren't looking for a subsidy so you don't even have to provide a social security number. Even citizenship is not a hard requirement.

AS I have said, I haven't been on the site. I have heard from several different sources that one of the first things you have to do is give your SS#

One of those sources was during the hearings the other day, the woman who heads the health care, from the IRS.

AS anyone knows the last thing you want to give is your SS# if the site is not secure, or not working properly.

As for us, we are not curious enough to go on the site, because our president said "If you like your insurance, you can keep it."

As someone who has been on the site, I can assure you that anywhere I saw that says SS#, it also says OPTIONAL. You absolutely do not have to give it.

If you are applying for a subsidy, it still says OPTIONAL, but you might jeopardize any subsidy if they can't verify your income.

If the IRS woman implied a SS# is required for all applicants, she is one of many spreading false rumors.
