Guns Don't Kill Peolple

Yeah, right.

That guns are big business, despite the deaths that they cause, is money in the bank.

What if there had been an armed guard in the school that day? What if the children had not been put in this situation, because there was a large sign saying "Gun free zone"

Families in this community realized the best defense was a gun to protect themselves. That is why sales went up.

Fact a lawful gun owner didn't kill all these people.

Fact The mentally ill are not being taken care of. They should not be allowed to walk around when they are a danger to others.

Merry Christmas to you too!!!

Well, Luanne, while we're waiting for our leaders to figure out a way to deal with the mentally ill, a Congress that is not tied around the fingers of the gun lobby might think it wise to institute universal background checks to perhaps make it a bit more difficult for some of the crazies to get guns. A simple, humble thing, but beyond the power of a national legislature where money talks louder than common sense or senseless deaths.

As for good guys with guns being the answer to bad guys with guns, as I understand the situation in Colorado yesterday, there was an armed officer in the school, but the shooter still managed to walk in with a shotgun unimpeded. In the vast majority of schools there will always be more doors and windows than cops.

Today, as we mark the anniversary of Newtown, what we're really noting is another anniversary of doing nothing. The Washington Post said it best this morning: 71 deliberate gun deaths of children under 10 since Newtown.

To mark the occasion, we're sending still another check to the Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence, and making a few more phone calls and sending a few more letters to Congress.

Those of us who do not see arming everyone as a solution to gun violence must continue to put our voices, our checkbooks and our votes behind our convictions, and I, for one, will continue to do that.

and do you add an armed guard to keep an eye on the armed guard to make sure they aren't unstable? besides, a single guard can't protect anything more than a 1 room schoolhouse - if that.

when there is a shooting at a school, does only one policeman show up?

Fact: Lawful guns are still far too easy to come by and guns with no practical use other than killing people are still available.

Fact: There needs to be serious background checks and waiting periods on all gun sales.

I think the gun sales went up because of a gun crazy society and people are terrified. Fewer guns are the answer.
