RE: Mediterranean Shipping Lines
We went on the 11nt Melody cruise to Southern Caribbean last year and it was ok - got to see some friends on the islands and our first time to Guadaloupe. However some drawbacks: The entire ship reeked of cigarette smoke that hit you in the face from the time we exited the cabin. The waiters do not speak or understand much English. Someone who had been on the ship before us told us to ask for Leonardo's table, we did, and fared better than most, but service still slow. There were British, Italians, French, German, Brazilian, and just a few Americans on board. All announcements and some of the entertainment were done in five languages - by the time they were through all of them I tended to forget where they started. Every afternoon at the pool there was VERY loud music that got annoying after a while and the cruise director and staff were continuously performing and trying to get people into contests, etc - in five languages. I would not put a client on it that was not "European" oriented and multilingual. Just my opinion - we have been on many other ships to compare this one to.
