I'm probably too late to do you any good, but my wife and I cruised the Inside Passage on the Yorktown Clipper, and loved it. I posted a review on this site, as well. If I can answer any questions, please feel free to email me!
I spent 6 months on the Yorktown Clipper - as a worker. It depends on what you're looking for if you'll enjoy it. I loved the more remote destinations, and being a worker, I didn't really need on board entertainment. This is not a ship for people who love glitz. There is no swimming pool, no casino, and a low lounge area to get a drink. The destinations are great for nature lovers. My favorite cruise was the Panama Canal and Costa Rica cruise by far. I never worked on any of the Alaska cruises, though the rest of the staff really liked those. Expect a low-key cruise with wonderful naturalists, not a party atmosphere. The average age is not young. They cator to the older, more educated passenger in a down-to-earth way.
I cruised on the Yorktown Clipper with my husband and son three years ago. We loved the small ship atmosphere and the out of the way places that we could see. The food was wonderful and we sat at different table for each meal so we could get acquainted with many more people.
We are sailing on Le Levant, another small ship, this fall on the Great Lakes.
