We just returned from a Lirica cruise--very disappointed. We went to a variety of new ports, which was fascinating. The ship itself is lovely, with pleasant colors and nice decor. The food leaves much to be desired, unless you stick with pasta, veal, soup and ice cream. Fish and beef dishes were truly terrible. If you want fancy desserts, you won't get them here, either. The service was exceptionally slow and disorganized. During the cruise, the kitchen ran out of butter, so only lard-like cubes of margarine were available for bread or toast. Entertainment is very European style, with all kinds of acts---though they were repeated throughout the cruise. We had a nice balcony room at a good price, but we were surrounded by cigar smokers, so we couldn't always enjoy our balcony without that stinky disgusting smoke. Since we have cruised 16 times, we are veteran cruisers. Unfortunately, we would not go on MSC again. They need to learn much more about cruising and passengers' needs, but it will not be at our expense. I would go with another line to the Mediterranean.
