I have decided I need a quick vacation by myself...just a little getaway. I found these little 1 or 2 days "cruises to nowhere" that seem like a nice quick fun time. Has anyone ever done one? Would you prefer a certain line or ship?? Just looking for direction.

I never did one but I have friends who have done several . It can be very romantic
Well here's hoping!
It just sounds like a nice fun quick relaxing getaway. I just didn't know if anyone had any 'words of caution' as far as reasons not to do one. Well, besides time going by way too fast!..lol

I avoid anything under 5 days so you don't get the "but I just unpacked" feeling when the trip is over. I guess if your near a port it would be good weekend thing.
Do any of the major lines do these trips? I'm guessing the biggest issue would be a minor line having less quality, activities, and a smaller ship that you might be used to.
If it's an option I'd suggest making it a long weekend and just go to the bahamas for 3 nights.

11 cruises in 2012 finished!
Total: 90nights at sea visiting 15 countries
BOOKED: Princess Diamond May 25th for 28nights to Alaska
PM me if you need a cruisemate for any Panama Canal cruises in 2013
Celebrity preferred but not required
Date, ship, cost pp
That is a good point, as i live in ohio so i am not close to any ports. I was trying to find a port near a train station since we have an amtrak here. As far as ships, it seems that the really nice lines offer these, in fact the one i saw that made me want to do it was on the NCL Breakaway.
I guess it's somewhat a good thing i do not live by as port as i would probably start doing these every weekend!

I would agree that only living close to a port, makes sense to my mind, to do this. The lure of the sea when these cruises pop up,is alluring though but the fare getting there can kill you
Cruisemates sent me on the Gem, when she ws in Boston for a 3 day cruise, and we sailed in a blizzard!
Maybe treat yourselt to a spa weekend at a lux faciity near you, to soothe your soul

Was a great experience....loved seeing the crew who had never seen snow before, sending pictures of it home, and some making snow angels was so much fun...this was the day after, snow went over the side & in the pool!

One of the reasons we're so excited about Princess Cruise lines opening up additional itineraries from San Francisco for us, it's the only port that makes sense doing a 'quickie' type cruise from. Otherwise we have to fly/drive to San Diego or Long Beach...and it's just not worth it for even a seven day cruise. We've taken Celebrity out of S.F...but they seem to be cruising mainly out of Seattle now. Boooooo...Hisssssss.....
I teach junior achievement for elementary schools, and always ask the kids to tell me something unique about themselves, and i always do the same. This was just this past December and I had a little 4th grade girl tell me she was living in Toledo just while her family was passing through, and had never seen snow. Of course this was the only mild winter we ever had. Well during their lunch, it actually started snowing! With permission of the teacher, i took her outside so she could check out the snow. I wish i could bottle the feeling i got watching her face watch the snow...it was simply magical! I will never forget it! :-)
But back on topic...cruise to nowhere still sounds fun! :-)

I happen to take a cruise to nowhere once, mostly from curiosity. I can`t say it was my best cruise ever, but not the baddest either. That pic looks great though...if only I could had something close to that one my cruise.
