Default Cruise to nowhere...

At present Arcadia is sailing up & down the English Channel, she cannot dock at the ports scheduled due to high winds. Pity as these short "taster" cruises of 2/3 nights only stop once or twice. We are on one next week as a pre-Xmas jaunt to medieval Brugges. Ice rink, markets street food & mulled wine sort of thing.
I wonder what they will do if the winds continue.... stay at sea??

She set sail into the 33-35 kt winds (Near gale/gale) and rain just before 18:00 local time.
It's a very nasty night out there, with severe gales forecast in the Channel, but at least that's what QM2 was built to handle, and hopefully the front will pass over her during the night allowing the winds to subside again.

Alan.

We went down to the shore to watch P&O Arcadia & Cunard QM 2 sail out, Arcadia was a bit late but QM must have been over an hour late, horrible weather but we were in the car!! They did look spectacular all lit up as by the time they passed us it was dark.

Well, we are off tomorrow for a little 2 day mini cruise to Belgium, the Xmas markets in Brugges, the historic city too all decked out for the festive season, ice rink in the square, street food & drinks & the Xmas atmosphere. Not a month in the Caribbean but at least it's a little break on a ship!!

Thanks Alan...I think we are going for cold rather than wet...if we even land which I doubt, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't leave the docks, someone said it's so bad all the restaurants are closed.

I don`t really get why someone would want to go on a cruise to nowhere. I mean I do get the all "people`s tastes are different"...bla bla bla...but if you go on a cruise and not visit new places, what`s the point? Anyway, I have a friend who has been in one of those short 3-day NYC cruises to nowhere because his girlfriend wanted and he said it was pretty boring compared with regular cruises. He is a cruise enthusiast...so he has some experience....

Yeah, I`ve went on a cruise to nowhere and the first day was ok, but from the 2nd day it was kind of boring. If you can stay interested in the activities on board and the cruise will not last for too long, I guess is not such a bad choice...depending whether you enjoy such a cruise or not.

Yeah...maybe, but I still don`t get why to pay so much money just to see water around you for a few days. Maybe only people with a lot of money and with daily issues from which they just want get rid of....I don`t know !
