I just read on RTC that Princess has eliminated the Hagendaaz bar on The Sun. This person was wondering if it was still on The Grand.
I loved the Bar and Hope Princess Kept it, but am posting to find out for fact from someone if this is true or rumor. Please let's not get into that discussion about paying for ice cream again.
Sara,
I hope they don't give away free ice cream on Princess. That would mean that I gain 15 pounds a week instead of my usual 10!
You gotta draw the line somewhere.

Returned on 8/25 off the Crown Princess 16 day cruise. In the Cafe Cabana on the Lido deck, during lunchtime there was an icecream cart with attendant who served icecream either in a dish or cone at no extra charge. I assume they do this on all their ships?
Not on the Princess ships I have been on, only at dinner. This is a definite improvement and is probably in response to all the negatives on the message boards. Now I can have my cream puffs a la mode! Princess just keeps getting better and better!
We're leaving 9/14 on the Crown. I'll look for the ice cream cart for sure.
Thanks and good cruising.

No ... this has been the rule on all Princess ships EXCEPT the SUN, DAWN, GRAND, SEA and OCEAN. This is what all of the hubbub has been about ... when they introduced the Haagen-Dazs ice-cream bar on the SUN PRINCESS in 1995, this (standard) tradition at the lunch buffet area all but disappeared. You can still find the carts on the PACIFIC, ROYAL, CROWN and REGAL PRINCESSes; the SKY PRINCESS has a soft-serve machine at the buffet (this may or may not disappear when the SKY transfers to P&O cruises later this year).
Just pony up the 2 bucks and enjoy the ice cream! If you're eating so much ice cream that you are worried about running up a big bill then you are eating too much ice cream ;-)
I completed my cruise on the Sun Princess on Monday. The ice cream bar is still there. Three types of sundaes were $3.75 each. They also serve ice cream from the dinner menu each evening, although reports were that it was not as good as Dryers or Hagen-Daz!
