Default Grand Princess cabin

We are booked on the Grand Princess for an E. Carib cruise
in Nov. Our cabin is A335 which is on the Aloha deck and is
below the Lido deck. Will we get a lot of nosie and foot traffic
from the deck above? Also, I noticed the Lido deck is wider then
the decks below it. Does this make our cabin dark due to the
overhang?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

My wife and I and another couple are sailing on the Grand on 12 Nov 00, when are you going in Nov?

Jim,

I doubt that you will have much problem with noise from the pool area. I have stayed in similar cabins aboard other Princess vessels built by the same yard and have never had a problem, even when "sleeping in" until nearly noontime. The cabins on Princess vessels seem to have exceptional sound insulation.

BTW, I would not worry too much about noise on MV Grand Princess. The pool areas tend to be active from mid-morning until late afternoon, but they are not configured very well for nighttime events such as "Island Night" that are very popular aboard other Princess vessels.

The balconies aboard MV Grand Princess probably will be shaded at midday. In the morning and in the afternoon, there's a "sunny side" (on which the sun shines into the balcony under the deck above) and a "shady side" (on which the balcony gets no sun). Which is which obviously depends upon the ship's heading and the time of day.

Have a great cruise!

Norm.

Hi Norm,
Thank you for the information.
I understand the "sunny" and "shady" depending on the position
of the cabin relative to the SUN. My reason for asking was because
the overhang of the Lido deck extend several feet beyond the Aloha deck.
Thank you,
Jim

Jim,

I'm not sure what's giving you the impression that the Lido Deck extends beyond the Aloha Deck aboard MV Grand Princess, but my recollection from twelve days aboard the vessel a year ago is that it really does not. If I remeber correctly, the Lido Deck extends only to the rail at the edge of the balconies on the Aloha Deck, or very nearly so.

Norm.

Hi Norm,
I think the Lido deck at the midship area is extended beyond the
Aloha deck. Please check out the attached picture.
Something off topic, what is MV?
Thanks,
James

Jim,
Let me know how your cruise and cabin are. We are booked in same room as you for November 18,2001.

We were on Baja deck and as I recall Aloha and Lido decks were even with our balcony. No one above could look down into our balcony. We COULD look down into balconies on Caribe and Dolphin decks as those protruded (step like) further out. I was glad we weren't in those (some were mini suites) as they didn't have very good privacy. Remember to look up!

Were you on the forward section of Baja? I think Lido's "overhang"
starts near the foreward most stairway.
