Yes, by all means drag the guitar, there should be a passenger talent show :-)
Enjoy cruising on "Dawn" Princess, a favorite to a lot of cruisers. Be sure to post back after the cruise and tell us about it :-)
I used to be a stage manager on cruise ships. They should have a guitar and an amplifier for the guitar player in the show band on board - but I cannot guarantee it.
To be really safe, you could bring your guitar and a direct box, or even better, a small practice amp they could mic. Then you could also practice your chops in your cabin -- at a REASONABLE volume, of course :-)
If that is too much trouble, take your chances with the stuff they probably have on board.
I would take my guitar for sure, They have plenty of sound equiptment you should be able to borrow. You will be the hit of the show. Have fun. Be sure to report when you get back. I'll bet if you talk to the guys in the lounge bands they would be glad to have you sit in. The Dawn is great.
One highlight of a cruise is talent night.
Usually when my husband sings, the band supplies the mic and they play the music for him.
There will be all kinds of acts. It could be a little dance, a skit, a joke, magic, guitar. Any talent goes.
There is usually a sign up time when you will know what order you go in.
