Princess Alaska
Any opinions of Princess in Alaska?? Also, this may seem petty, but is the hot chocolate that they provide on the deck complimentary or do they charge (a little worried after learning they charge for their ice cream bar????)?

Thanks in advance,
Clay F

We were on the Sun P., Voyage of the Glaciers, northbound. I can highly recommend it - Princess does a fantastic job! The only hot chocolate I had had Irish Cream in it, but I don't think they charge for 'virgins'.

Princess pioneered Alaska cruising and they do a fabulous job. That plus their beautiful ships and fine service makes them an outstanding choice for Alaska. By the way, you can get free ice cream in the dining room.

RE: Princess Alaska
I have cruised Alaska on the Star Princess and the Sun Princess. It was a great experience on both trips. Hope to sail to Alaska with them again, possibly in June of 2001.

RE: Princess Alaska
We cruised the Sun in July like Bumble Bee paid for spiked hot chocolate. Did not eat any ice cream in Alaska! The spiked hot chocolate was $3.00 plus 15% gratuity, a different liqueur offered each day.

Sailed Alaska on Princess twice, the Sun and the Ocean.

The 'spiked' hot chocolate is at a charge, but if you want regular, just head to the Lido, free there. As for the charge for ice cream, it is an extra, you certainly not going to go hungry, ice cream is available at other places during the day, so what is the big deal about the charge?

I appreciate all the responses, and it's not a "big deal" just seems a little petty. Just wanted a question answered and I think I got it, didn't know it was a "big deal".

Thanks to all those who responded.

We sailed the Sun Princess to AK. in Aug. Southbound, fantastic trip!! As someone else said, Princess does a really good job! Course they had some help, the weather was sunny, and the animals were cooperative. :-)
