Drink and snorkel rental costs?
Just curious we have to convert our weak little Canadian dollars,,,roughly what is the cost of a mixed drink, beer or wine on board?

Also, to pack snorkel or not to pack? Can anyone give us an idea of rental cost of snorkel and fins....and do they provide life jackets to children at Princess Cays? Appreciate your comments.

RE: Drink and snorkel rental costs?
Last May the drinks of the day (the cheapest) were $3 US - about $4.50 Cdn. Everything else varies depending on what you order, but start at about $4 US and go up from there. There is also 15% gratuity added automatically. Take a bottle from home or buy one before you board.

Just add 50% to the price in U. S. dollars to get the price in Canadian dollars. Thus, as Bumble Bee says, $3 US for a drink is 3x1.5=4.50 Canadian dollars.

As a fellow canuck I am also curious what our real costs will be.(Grand 11/12/00)-Norm I think we know better than most how to work out the exchange since we face this everywhere unfortunatley, but the info we canucks are looking for are the actual U.S.prices of the items-like soft drinks, beer, hard liquor, cappucinos and snorkel equip.Anyone who can give us specific prices would be very helpful since we don' t always think straight when in the throws of ordering under that beautiful sunshine by the pool and a nasty bill at the end of the cruise is no way to end a vacation.Thanks.

Prices for beverages on board are in line with what you would expect to pay at a respectable restaurant or hotel. Non-alcoholic bar beverages (sodas, etc.) are $1.50 and alcoholic beverages typically run in the $4 to $5 range (all prices U. S.). Additionally, Princess adds a 15% "service charge" (gratuity) to all beverages.

Concerning snorkel equipment, we always drag our own along but it can be a hassle. On the flip side, you know that yours is not defective and that it's only been in your mouth. It's also cheaper in the long run. At Princess Cays, they charge $18 US per day for a mask, fins, snorkel, vest and mesh bag. $8 for just the vest. I also read that it is required to wear a vest on Princess Cays if you snorkel. Other snorkeling excursions include the snorkel gear and they don't give you a price break if you have your own.
